Dear Meg O’Niel,

We are a lobbying team that has been formed with the intention of disclosing the deal regarding the Scott Reef gas/petrol deep-sea browsing.
The then-WA Governor, Mark McGowan, was approached by a Japanese consortium (comprising Mitsubishi and Mitsui, with the involvement
of the Jap government).
Previously, the Australian government was involved in issuing an international reprimand to the Japanese government over the issue of whaling in the South Pole. While the Jap government has stated that the activity was conducted for research purposes, there have been concerns that it may have involved commercial
whaling activities.

The Jap gov't has expressed interest in the idea of the Australian Western Australia government selling the Scott Reef whale sanctuary;
for $5 billion in endorsement money to Japan, which could potentially
be used to destroy it. This could lead to questions about the sincerity of the Australian govt's actions.

Or is Aus gov Hypocrites(?)
In fact, the effort to stop Woodside’s monstrous Burrup Hub;
the WA Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has warned Woodside’s Browse project is too dangerous to proceed*.
The EPA said that Woodside’s plan to drill for gas near Scott Reef is an ‘unacceptable’ risk to the environment. It cited “threats to endangered whales and turtles and the risk of an oil spill” and concluded that the project posed “threats of serious or irreversible damage.”
Under our current environmental laws it is incredibly rare for a fossil fuel company to be given a red light by the WA EPA. This news shows just how irredeemably bad Woodside’s Browse plans really are.
