The Late Pope Francis left his will that is stated, '' It be engrave only 'Francis', and no decorative tombstone but just simple''.
(Well I'm paraphrasing though..)
Francis was born 17 December 1936, as Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina; he was one of five children born to Italian immigrants. With mum and dad spoke in Italian at home, learned English outside the Italian community.
He studied chemistry and worked as a chemist before he entered the Society of Jesus as a novice in 1958.
Before ordination to the priesthood, he earned a philosophy degree and taught literature and psychology. He also earned a degree in theology; in 1969, he was ordained a priest and made his final profession with the Jesuits in 1973.
He became a bishop, cardinal and then archbishop of Buenos Aires. The College of Cardinals gathered in a papal conclave on 12 March 2013, and elected Bergoglio pope the following day.
He chose to be called Francis, the first pontiff to take his papal name from St. Francis of Assisi, who dedicated his life to piety, the poor and rebuilding the church.
Both Francis did love enemies, sinners end poor as Jesus commands, so to the Roman Catholic Church and its 1.3 billion congregations worldwide since 2013, died on the morning of Easter Monday 21 April 2025 at his residence in the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta at the age of 88.
A day earlier, from a balcony at St. Peter’s Basilica, seated in a wheelchair, Pope Francis blessed for one more last time.
Also he spent Holy Thursday with inmates at a Rome prison, which he had previously visited to perform the washing of the feet.
Pope Francis died of a cerebral stroke, followed by a coma and irreversible heart failure, according to the Vatican.
He will be buried in a simple tomb in St. Mary Major Basilica in Rome’s Esquilino neighborhood.
He did not agree to 'Catholic God' or any other God in His name, he has trusted one Holy God in Jesus Christ, our Holy saviour who gave us one true sacrifice, love. *''Compassion'' means 'Share sacrifice' in Latin.
For Pope Francis, his life of faith, and dedication to the Church of God, we pray;
+ Rest eternal, grant to Francis, O Lord,
and let light perpetual shine upon him.
